at a court held 23.4.21Chas2 Eliz Savill was admitted to two crofts of land parcel of Gosfenn containing 7a then divided from the residue of Gosfenn and held by copy and at a court held 28.3.1715 it appeared that the said Eliz by the name of Eliz Cardwell widow surrendered all her lands etc to the use of her last will now at this court it appeared that she died after the last court upon which came Thos Savill of Colchester merchant by Jn Savill his attorney and showed the last will of Eliz Cardwell dated 19.5.1714 the tenor concerning the premises as follows imprimis I give devise and bequeath unto my nephew Thos Savill the third son of my brother Jn Savill of Colchester aforesaid merchant and who is my godson all my copyhold land and tenements whatsoever lying and being in the parishes of Colne Engaine and White Colne and held of the manor of Colne Priory and now in the occupation of Leppingwell or his assigns to hold to him the said Thos Savill and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and after his death and for want of such issue I give and devise and bequeath all the same copyhold lands and tenements to my nephew Asariah Savill the youngest son of my said brother Jn Savill and his heirs forever and he was admitted etc to him and his legitimate heirs and gave fine
