at a court held 11.4.1721 Math Newman surrendered all his messuages lands and tenements held of this manor to the use of his last will now at this court it appeared that the said Math died about the last court seised of two orchards next to Colne Green one of which lies on the north part of a free tenement there containing 2r and the other lies on the east part of the said tenement containing 40p and of one purpresture containing 4p lying next to the tenement aforesaid also of 20a of land or pasture commonly called Coes all which the said Math late had of the surrender of Gilb Smith and also to two closes of land or pasture commonly called Lower Coes also to one piece of land called Inhams lying next to Burrough Bridge in Earls Colne which premises the said Math had of the surrender of Ralph Josselin and that before his death on 6.7.1728 he made his will in which concerning the premises viz item I give and devise unto my nephew Robt Newman son of my said brother Robt Newman and to his heirs forever all my copyhold lands and tenements whatsoever situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid now in my own occupation which I lately purchased of mr Gilb Smith and Ralph Josselin or either of them upon which came the said Robt the nephew and was admitted etc and gave fine etc and because the said Robt is an infant aged 3yrs therefore Robt Newman his father was admitted his guardian etc
