at this court it is testified by the said deputy steward and found by the homage that on 25.7.last Ralph Joselyn of Halstead surrendered by the hands of the deputy steward all that his messuage or tenement with the yards gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging called Bretons alias Burtons late in the tenure or occupation of Nath King (may be Nath King) and Robt Wiseman and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of Jn Cranfield and Thos Pease their assign or assigns and the reversions etc to the only use of Mary Saunders of Earls Colne widow provided always and upon condition that if the said Ralph his heirs etc do pay to the said Mary her executors etc at or in the dwelling house of the said Mary in Earls Colne the full sum of 18li9s on 26.1.next without deduction then the surrender to be void Jn Wale chief steward
