whereas at a court held saturday 10.12.1748 found that Jn Lay of Aldham gentleman out of court on 20.10.1748 surrendered by the hands of Sam Alston junior gentleman instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Harrington and Geo Wall all that toft of land with an orchard adjoining and two closes of land formerly six closes containing 10a with appurtenances as the same now are or late were in the tenure or occupation of Grace Lay widow her assigns or undertenants and the reversion etc to the use of Jn Lay of Little Horksley gentleman now at this court came the said Jn and was admitted to the said toft of land with an orchard adjoining and two closes of land formerly six closes now laid into one containing 10a to hold by the ancient annual rent of 4s1d and he gave fine etc
