14: a frost and snow, very cold. I rode to Stisted to assist in the choice of their minister, both parts stiff; divided, a most sad town, no care almost of anything, I spoke to them but could not draw it to a conclusion though I hope to a good forwardness; Mr Alstone made a serious offer to me of 10li. out of his own purse, and great likelihood to carry it if I would yield to them but I would not, I was engaged in the business and therefore would not endeavour any such thing to myself: the place has 140 acres of glebe and the tithe are worth about 100li. per annum. god good to me outwards and homewards; this day Mr Newbold received our money for Sir Will: Brereton , this day invited and promised to assist in a day of humiliation at Markeshall:
