6: 7: 8: My Cousin Abraham Josselin came to us from New England, about by the Canaries after a sad long journey and one tedious fight with a Kings Pirate: heard by him of the welfare of the plantation for which god be praised, this summer N E had divers losses at sea, and scarce any before: we rode to my Cousin Bentons , god good to us outwards and homewards preserving us from water and dangers at night heard news of the routing of my Lord Fairfax his forces, which was reported as a very great loss, endangering much the North parts of England.
