7: This day we begun to dig a well, which I let to Fossett at 9d. per foot: about 5 foot deep or thereabouts we found water and so the spring continued for about 6 foot; we dug about 14 foot, the charge of them came to about ( ) shillings for digging, and ( ) hundred well brick. it was a good providence of god we found water so soon, they hope it will be a fresh and a quick spring and very serviceable one, its the mercy of god that makes anything we take in hand to prosper.
