March: 1: this morning heard old Mrs Harlakenden , after 4 days lying senseless and expecting continually death died; the smallpox at chapell, our affliction in the fever in our town how gentle in comparison of theirs, the lord in mercy do us good by his chastisements. heard Mr London was sick of a spotted fever and that there was no likelihood of his recovery; my water broke very much this day.
