15: a sad wet morning, corn is much laid, and some empty, and rotten on the ground hay is much spoiled and some even rotted. this morning I saw an evidence of the worlds vanity and inconstancy, little did Sr Edward Denny or his stately Dame Edgecombe , think at first any of their sons should carry briefs about as one Mr Denny their son did this day to me, and as he says its their employment, the lord make me to serve him, and train mine up in his fear, who knows the want and poverty any may come to,
