September: 10: This week the lord was good and merciful to me and mine, in our lives, and liberties peace and plenty, so that hitherto, though somewhat straitened, we were in no absolute want of anything: I drank my beer for 3 or 4 days with as much content out of a dish as at sometimes out of a silver bowl; I desire the lord to give me patience and contention in any straits and necessities that his providence may sug lead me into: I bless god this week my mind has not run out after some foolish vanities as formerly, yet I find Satan like the lapwing crying before me with one temptation or vanity, to draw my mind from my god of my salvation, oh Lord I am weak undertake for me, the lord was good and merciful to me in the work and duty of the Sabbaths in the word preached, being seasonable, the lord make it profitable to me and my people: my thoughts much working within me about leaving Colne. seeing they have not regarded to bring in promised maintenance unto me,
