Novemb. 19: This week the lord was good and merciful to us, in all our outward mercies; only my navel continued ill, which yet was not very sore, or troublesome at present, but only in apprehension, and in reference to that; I bless god, that my heart is fixed, and stayed on him, that he will in due time perfectly heal it; and that I might not be troubled over much with both ills together, my pose taking me, I felt not the illness of my navel, my wife and family in indifferent health, I praise god for the same; my cold was sad on the lords day, yet through mercy I preached twice on that day, the lord in mercy kept my heart in some measure close to him, and estranged me from my vain thoughts to his name by the praise, as also gave me with some diligence to attend on my studies, he in mercy, use me, as a blessing to the souls of his people:.
