28. A day of public Thanksgiving: I spent the morning in preaching, we dined at Mr Harlakendens , our entertainment was very free, and kind, Major Heines was with us, he gave me a good pair of gloves: my navel was dry and close this day to god be the praise, I was somewhat subject to a rheum in my head: heard from my sister Hodson of her poverty, and the sick condition of her husband; I cannot do much for her, being to pay 5li. for her together with my sister Mary , I sent her 5s. which was in my hands that my uncle Richard Josselin had sent to her, lord help her in her low condition and raise up my heart to be helpful to her as occasion shall offer itself.
