14: This day there fell very much rain in many places; god sent us two very sweet showers at Colne for which we bless god, they are pledges of more mercies in their seasons, the news from Ireland this week is sad, Culmore Castle lost, and so no relieving of Derry by water: Tredagh likely to be lost(,) their magazine being blown up with powder by the treachery of some aldermen, its many times gods season to help when we are low, Cromwell marched out of London in great state, they go with wonderful confidence, the issue is in gods glorious armies disposing.
