27. This [day I fetched] a cow from Westney's of Halsted it cost 6li.5s. I had great trouble in the cows unquietness, god enters me into many of my affairs with trouble that I might eye him still in them, and see he is my only content, and these are all vexations without him, I paid Smith 8li. the residue of his bargain, I lent Polly 20s. I received in 30s. from my school rents. gods providence be over me in all things for good for in him I put my trust, and on his grace in christ, I stay my soul.
