June. 5. After some difficulties to me on both hands. Mr Gilbert Smith and my daughter Elizabeth married by my hand in Lexden privately. 8. she rode towards London(,) lord for Jesus Christs sake bless them and prosper them in soul and body, and let them live happily in thy sight, and give me comfort in their loves and lives. the ground and bottom of the match among us was not estate. but good qualities let them shine lord in them both. let her be as Elizabeth in scripture: 9. a wonderfully wet time threatening the meadows, lord be not angry with the field, we have sinned(.) I own thy chastisement(,) spare lord and bless me and mine.
