Feb. 16. Calm good working weather, my family in health(.) the nation busy about the choice of parliament. god direct them, that they be not outwitted, as the former were to raise an army(.) said good choices in many places and that the K. says the country would choose a dog if he stood against a courtier: the peace goes on (the) beyond the seas, and the fears of france are on this side. wet and windy and cold god good in his word for which I praise him, my family hopeful.
