Feb: 25. This morning being cold and windy and wet I preached not, god pardon me(,) it was not out of neglect, it was a force on me. some days past my breath so short as I should have died if I stirred but a little. my leg swollen wonderfully. and issue runs out little. when I sat still I felt no pain nor trouble, the thoughts of the dropsy returned on me [but I felt] no water in my body. we used opening things. this morning my urine was a black [sediment]. god [took] the fear of death from me, my two daughters on their marriage which I was desirous to perfect.
