1r of Barcroft | and also at this court it is shown by the said homage that Jn Churche gentleman late customary tenant of this same manor before this court died seised in his demesne as of fee of and in certain customary lands held by copy of a roll of a certain court viz of a parcel of land parcel of Barcroft as lying in the said Colne viz between the lands late of Geo Bieston on one part and one 1a of land late parcel of the said Barcroft now enclosed and now or lately in the tenure of Thos Christmas to the west one head thereof abutting upon the road leading from the said Colne as far as Colne Park and the other head abutting upon the garden late of the said Geo Beiston called which said premises among others the said Jn Churche surrendered into the hands of the lord to the use of his last will which last will now shown to the said homage bearing the date 23.2.1617 shows that the aforesaid Jn Churche gave and bequeathed the said premises to Barth Churche his son and heir of Jn himself his heirs and assigns forever the tenor of which last will concerning the premises in the following english words viz the residue of all my lands and tenements not formerly given I give and bequeath unto Barth Churche my eldest son to him his heirs and assigns forever after my decease now to this court came the aforesaid Barth Church and humbly sought from the lord admittance to the said premises according to the effects stated in the last will of his father to whom the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to him and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord |
