whereas at a court held for the said manor 3.11.1657 it was presented by the homage that upon the said day Jn Stephens the younger did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Giles Crow the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Jn Clerke two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing etc one cottage or tenement and the yard garden and appurtenances to the same belonging late of Jn Allen and then in the tenure or occupation of Edw Stephens to the use and behoof of the said Edw Stephens his brother and of his heirs and assigns forever now at this court the said Edw Stephens did come and desired to be admitted tenant to the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage or tenement yard gardens and appurtenances to the said Edw his heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at this will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and he gave to the lord for his fine
