at a court held 28.10.1678 Jas Linnett was admitted to three crofts of land called Petcrofts alias Peticrofts with appurtenances about 4a now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Jas Linnett died before this court and that in his life he surrendered on 2.9.1679 by Geo Toller gentleman instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Fletcher and Giles Crow all his customary messuages lands and tenements held of the said manor to his last will now in this court comes Jn Linnett junior and Robt Linnett and show Jas will dated 2.9.1679 the tenor concerning the premises in the following words item I give and bequeath unto two eldest sons of the said Jn Linnett of Hunts Hall aforesaid and to their heirs forever all that my messuage and tenement and the lands which I lately purchased of Jn Kendall lying in Earls Colne part freehold and part copyhold holden of the manor of Earls Colne and also it is shown by the homage that Jn Linnett and Robt Linnett are the eldest sons of Jn Linnett of Hunts Hall they are present in court and humbly seek admittance etc and they pay their fine and make fealty
