at a court held 30.3.1720 it appeared to that homage that before that court Jn Bayley died seised of one cottage and garden called Charles Payne and a shop called Le Forge situate next the cemetery of Earls Colne with appurtenances held of the manor by copy of court roll and that Jn Bayley is his eldest son and heir now to this court comes Jn Bayley and petitions etc admitted premises etc
