at a court held for the manor 11.4.1721 Math Newman then a customary tenant of the manor surrendered into hand of lord by rod by hand of steward all and singular his messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatever held of the manor by copy of court roll to use of last will of said Math in writing now to this court appears to homage that Math died since last court seised of one customary messuage or tenement with appurtenances situate near Colne Green in tenure of Wm Ellis and Eliz Choate and that before his death to wit 26.7.1728 he made his last will in writing he devised amongst others in following english words to wit item I give and devise unto my nephew Jos Goulding son of my said sister Goulding and to his heirs forever all that my copyhold houses or tenements with the appurtenances wherein Wm Ellis and     Choates spinster now dwell in Earls Colne aforesaid upon condition that he shall deliver unto my executor a note under my hand part whereof is already paid as by said last will appears after which comes into court said Jos and petitions etc lords by steward granted delivery of seisin by the rod to have and hold etc under conditions in said last will mentioned etc
