whereas at a court held for the said manor 1.6.1741 it was found by then homage that Jn Bell and Thomasin his wife customary tenant of the said manor the said Thomasin being first solely and secretly examined by Solomon Grimston gentleman deputy steward and consenting did on 19.5.last past surrender by the rod into the hands of the lords of the said manor all and singular their and either of their customary messuages lands and tenements whatsoever holden of the said manor to the use of such person or persons and of and for such estate or estates as the said Thomasin in her last will and testament in writing under her hand and sealed testified by two or more credible witnesses with or without the consent of her husband or by any writing under her hand and seal purporting her last will and testament and testified as aforesaid shall declare limit or appoint and whereas the said Thomasin in and by her last will and testament bearing date 20.5.1741 devised unto her niece Grace Hatch immediately from and after the decease of the said Jn Bell he being tenant thereof for life and her heirs all that piece or parcel of land called Lowfields or otherwise with its appurtenances lying and being in Earls Colne between a meadow called Home Meadow on the one part and the highway from Earls Colne towards Tey on the other part and holden of the said manor of Earls Colne by copy of court roll in the occupation of Edw Johnson or his assigns
