fine 3d and no more because he is a pauper | Thos Smyth absent from court etc by the hands of the said Thos Killet the lady's bailiff in the presence of the aforesaid lady's tenants the same testifying surrendered into the hands of the lady one parcel of cottage with one parcel of curtilage parcel of the aforesaid tenement Cobbes which parcel of curtilage contains in length 3rod and in breadth as is the width of the aforesaid parcel of the said cottage to the use of Rich Aleyn to whom it was granted thereof seisin to have and to hold to himself for his lifetime by the rod by the services and customs etc thus that after the death of the aforesaid Rich the aforesaid parcel of cottage and curtilage by licence of the lady should remain to the beadman of the village of the aforesaid Colne or the greatest pauper of the same said village and this by the opinion view and common discretion of the warden or on his behalf of the church of the aforesaid Colne which then should be from this time and after the death of the said pauper to remain to another pauper and thus it should remain always for the lifetime of the said beadman of the said village or the greater pauper forever elected by the opinion and discretion of the warden or on his behalf of the church of the aforesaid Colne who always should be there to hold from the lady by the rod at the will of the lady and by the services and customs thereunto owed and accustomed and the aforesaid Rich gave for a fine for having his estate as shown |
