Markshale by deed Feryng homage prior of Colne exchange | whereas at a court here held on the monday after the feast of st hilary 14.1.26Edw3 at that time it was presented to retain 20a of free land lying in a field called Craweslond by reason of the minority of Jn son of Arth of Markeshale etc item it was presented to distrain the tenant of the lands of the abbot of Colchester to show by what right he had entered into 15a of land with appurtenances of the lord's fee and to make homage to the lord etc item it was shown by the whole of the lord's homage that it is not to the damage of the lord nor his heirs rather it is presented as advantageous to enter a certain piece of his park called Lowemede now the lord by his letter grants to the prior and convent and their successors of Colne the said piece of park adjoining for unblocking the watergates of the water mill of the said Priory and convent called Perismill as shown by the boundary forever in exchange for one other piece of the said meadow of the Priory and convent as shown by the bounds late of Jn Atte Berne on the northern part and the banks and the said meadow of Lowemed to have and to hold to the same prior and convent and their successors in exchange as aforesaid without impediment by the lord or his bailiff etc |
