Jn Adam whereas at a court here held on tuesday 7.10.39Edw3 Jn Adam came into court and surrendered into the hands of the lord one cottage with curtilage and 10a of land lying in six arable crofts and 2r of meadow and 2a2r of pasture with appurtenances lying in two crofts as enclosed by ditches and one cottage sometime of Matilda Thabor and one messuage and 18a of land and 1a2r of pasture and two day works and afterwards into the same said court came the same said Jn and Alice his wife and received from the lord the aforesaid lands and tenements with their appurtenances to hold to the same said Jn and Alice his wife for their entire life from the lord by the services etc thus that after the decease of the said Jn and Alice the aforesaid lands and tenements with their appurtenances should remain to Andrew son of Xian Gosse and the heirs of his body issuing to hold from the lord by the services etc and if it should happen that the aforesaid Andrew should die without heirs of his body then after the decease of the said Andrew the aforesaid tenement with appurtenances to the rightful heirs of the said Jn Adams of full age to be held from the lord by the services etc and which said tenement should have heriot given one ox valued at 20s etc therefore it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord etc and to return to the lord of the profits etc
