inquisition whereas at a court here held on the wednesday next before the feast of mark the evangelist in 22.4.23Edw3 it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord one free cottage with appurtenances that Thos Stubbard held from the lord by the services of 16d annual rent and the said cottage with its appurtenances accrued into the hands of the lord by reason of escheat because the said Thos was a bastard etc therefore it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord until etc and to return to the lord of the profits etc item it was shown by an inquisition that Alice Wynter who held from the lord on the day that she died one messuage with its appurtenances and there was heriot etc and that Robt son of the same said Alice was her next heir and was admitted thereof tenant etc therefore it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord etc and to return to the lord of the profits etc item Wm Bolor who on the day that he died held of the lord one messuage and 1a of free land by the service of 15d and it was liable to heriot etc and afterwards came Alice Bolor who purchased the said tenement jointly therefore the demand for heriot ceased etc therefore it was presented to distrain the tenant of the lands and tenements against the next to show by what right he entered into the lord's fee and to make fealty to the lord etc
