fine 3li it is found by the homage that Edw Richold that held to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod etc one messuage with the appurtenances called Masons lying between the hurchyard of Earls Colne and the highway leading from Colne aforesaid toward Halstead on the part of the north as etc as by copy of court roll here holden 21.6.10Eliz1 more at large appears died since the last court of the premises sole seised in his demesne as of fee according to the custom of the manor and they say further that Thos Richold of the age of 15yrs is his only son and next heir and hath right to the premises who by Wm Reynold's his guardian came and prayed to be admitted thereunto to whom by the lord's steward to the hands of his said guardian there is seisin thereof delivered by the rod to have and to hold to him his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod etc and because the foresaid Thos Richold is under the age of twenty one years and further because it appears by the testament of the said Edw shown here in the court that the said Edw by his said will appointed the forenamed Wm Reynold's to be the guardian of the same Thos until the said Thos come to the age of twenty one years therefore the custody as well of his body as of the premises is committed to the said Wm during the nonage of the same Thos except Thos Gent esq shall otherwise decree upon the examination of the matter
