fine 6li13s4d it is found by the homage that Thos Garrard that held to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod etc one messuage with appurtenances called Skinners one croft of land with the houses builded thereupon one barn or garden called Burtons Barn or Burtons Garden with free ingress and egress through the gates of the manor there viz from the highway leading toward Colchester to the said garden and through the croft called Berecroft as well to carry and recarry through the said gates as through the said croft of land and one tenement with the appurtenances called Gentryes three crofts of land containing 12a of land called Bromecrofts and one croft of land containing 11a of land together with a way leading to the field aforesaid to drive and chase and one meadow late parcel of the said croft called Berecroft containing 3a with the appurtenances in Earls Colne as etc as by copy of court roll here holden 4.10.23Eliz1 more at large appears died since the last court of the premises sole seised in his demesne as of fee according to the custom of the manor and they say further that Wm Garrard now of the age of 15yrs is brother and next heir of the said Thos and hath right to the premises who being present in the court came and prayed to be admitted thereto to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered to have and to hold to the same Wm his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services etc saving the right etc and he giveth fine etc and made fealty and is admitted the lord's tenant
