this bill made 10.3.34Eliz1 witnesseth that I Edw de Veer earl of Oxford lord great chamberlain of England do acknowledge myself to have received and had of Rich Harlakenden of Staple Inn in the county of Middx gentleman by the hands of Clem Stonard the full sum of 220li of good and lawful money of England in part of payment of a more sum due to me for the purchase of the site and demesnes of the late dissolved house and priory or monastery of blessed mary the virgin and st jn the evangelist of Colne Comitis alias Earls Colne in the county of Essex and also for the purchase of the manor or lordship of Colne Priory together with other things mentioned in a pair of indentures of bargain and sale betwixt me the said earl and the said Rich Harlakenden bearing date 7.2.last in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written Edw Oxford
