the examination of Rich Edwards taken upon oath touching his last legal place of settlement the 3.6.1747 who saith he was born at Earls Colne and that he was bound apprentice to mr Mayhew of Aldham and served the said mr Mayhew three years and upwards duly and truly and further says that sometime since last easter the overseer of the poor of Earls Colne aforesaid received 3s of him for a poors rate pursuant to an agreement with his landlord or landlady but further says he does not remember that he was ever rated in the said parish of Earls Colne and hath never done anything since whereby to gain a settlement elsewhere sworn before Robt Tweed Rich Edwards
