the will of Wm Copyn of Earls Colne in the name of god amen the 6.11.1541 I Wm Copyn of Earls Colne singleman being sick in body and whole in mind and memory do ordain and make this my last will and testament in this manner following first I bequeath my soul unto almighty god and to his only son my saviour jesus christ to our lady saint mary and to all the holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Colne aforesaid item I give and bequeath to the high altar of the church of the said Colne for my tithes and offerings be negligence forgotten or withholden 20d item I bequeath to Jn Copyn son of my brother Nich Copyn 40s that was the gift of his said father item I will that 40s to be bestowed to buy three able beasts one to be delivered to Gaines Colne church for the yearly obit of Jn Copyn my father and other two to Earls Colne church one for the obit of Alice Copyn my mother and the other for the obit of the said Nich my brother item I give and bequeath to Purcas daughter of Elenor Purcas of Bokkynge my best couch and a pair of sheets item I bequeath to Jn Copyn of Sudburie my brother's son 6s8d and my linen cloth item I bequeath to the said Jn Copyn of Earls Colne my best coat and my horne and leeche item I give and bequeath to Robt Enowes my sister's son and to his heirs and assigns all my tenement and garden at Colneford Hill giving to each of his brethren and sisters now living 6s8d the residue of my goods not bequeathed I will them to the disposition of Rich Enows my brother in law and Jn Ruggulls whom I ordain and make my executors to see me swiftly brought in earth and my debts paid and this my last will and testament performed witness of this my last will and testament Jn Estey and Jn Warde with others
