Phil Smythe of Nayland Suffolk butcher whole of mind soul to god made 13.8.1580 body to be buried in Naylande churchyard bequeath to Wm Smythe my son and heir three parcels of land parcel of Hayhouse containing 10a in Muche Hockesley I bequeath to Margt my wife one parcel of 8a in Boxted and one parcel of Parkhouse land until son Thos shall come to full age of 21yr and then I will the 8a to the said Thos I bequeath to Margt my wife two parcels of land 2a2r also parcel of Parkhouse land until my son Rich shall come to full age of 21yr then to him and his heirs I bequeath to Phil my son the reversion of one barn and certain land called Parkhouse of 20a after the death of Xoph Halsnothe as it lieth in Boxted I bequeath to Ann my daughter the profits of two messuages customary with their appurtenances lying in Oldham and Serianute and Devenishes for full eight years on my decease to keep them in repair I bequeath to Judith my daughter the remainder of the two messuages above at the end of eight years according to the custom of the manor I bequeath to Margt my wife one cottage with garden called Lytmanes in Earls Colne until Jn my son shall come of age at 21yr I bequeath to Wm my son the house wherein I now dwell called the Cocke except the barn and garden adjoining also the house called the Bull now occupied by Geo Butcher I bequeath to Ann my daughter the said barn and garden also 20li of good and lawful money to be paid within one year after my decease out of my movable goods I bequeath to Margt my wife house wherein Robt Hastill doth dwell in Nayland until Rich my son shall reach 21yr I bequeath to Margt my wife the house in which Caleb Morris doth dwell in Nayland until my son Thos shall reach 21yr as my wife well knoweth I am owed 40li bequeath to four youngest sons viz Thos Phil Rich and Jn equally should any die then the rest shall go to the survivors equally on reaching 21yr I bequeath to Wm my son control of my movable goods which shall fall to my daughter Judith when she reaches 21yr or on the day of her marriage whichever first I bequeath to Phil my brother Jn's son 10s to be paid on the day of his marriage I bequeath to Peter my brother ten cartloads of wood out of Parkhouse land being already filled I ordain Margt my wife and Wm my son my executors and the residue of my goods to Margt my wife Wm my son Thos my son Rich my son Phil my son Jn my son Judith my daughter to be parted equally and Margt to have custody of the children's parts until they reach 21yr witnessed mark Phil Smyth Wm Lynne Hen Atkinson Jn Perry Rich Webbe Thos Hoflyn and others
