in the name of god amen I Bridget Mathew of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow being of good and perfect mind and memory thanks be to god and being sensible of the frailty of nature and the uncertainty of my dissolution do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me heretofore made and first I commend my soul into the hands of god my saviour and my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named and for my worldly goods I dispose thereof as followeth first I give unto my loving brother Jn Pigg all that my copyhold messuage called Boames with all my lands thereunto belonging lying in Earls Colne aforesaid to the said Jn and his heirs forever item I give unto my loving brother Nich Pigg the sum of 10li of lawful money of England item I give to my loving sister Eliz Stock the sum of 40li of like money item I give and bequeath unto Geo Fuller and his heirs my late husband's kinsman 34li in which sum I include the 5li which was given him by my late husband in his last will and appointed to be paid after my decease item I give unto my loving friend mr Ralph Josselin of Earls Colne aforesaid clerk the sum of 5li of lawful english money desiring him to preach at my funeral upon reasonable notice thereof item I give unto the widow Bull of Chappell the sum of 20s to be paid her presently after my decease and to my kinsman Jn Buttall the elder 40s to be paid accordingly and my mind is that all the aforesaid for payments whereof there is no time set down be paid within six months after my decease item I give unto Dorcas London spinster all that my freehold messuage or tenement called Squires or Scrivenars with the yards outhouses and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Earls Colne aforesaid to the use of the said Dorcas London and her heirs forever item I also give and bequeath unto Mary and Sarah Giver my sister Sarah Coleman her daughters 10li apiece to be put out and improved for them immediately after my decease and to be paid unto them or the survivor of them at the age of 21yr or day of marriage which shall first happen item I give to Eliz Edwards my brother Jn Pigg's daughter the sum of 10li of lawful english money item my will and desire is that my executors do pay unto Jn Mathewes and Hannah his sister the son and daughter of my late husband's eldest brother their respective legacies given them by my late husband in his last will and testament item I give unto my loving friends mr Geo Cressener and Mary his wife (60s) three old twenty shilling pieces of gold to buy them rings to wear in remembrance of me item all the rest and residue of my goods and chattels not herein before disposed of my debts legacies and funeral charges being first paid I give and bequeath the same unto my loving brothers Jn Pigg and Wm Stock equally to be divided in remembrance of my kind affection to them and I do hereby nominate and appoint my said loving brothers Jn Pigge and Wm Stock the executors of this my last will and testament desiring them to see the same performed in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 9.10.1671 Bridget Mathew sealed published and declared to be the last will and testament of the said Bridget in the presence of G Cressener sen Jn Hooper Geo Cressener jun
