in the name of god amen I Jn Finch of Earls Colne in the county of Essex blacksmith being of good health and of a sound and disposing mind for which I praise god do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking annulling and making void hereby all other wills and testaments whatsoever by me formerly made first and above all I commend my soul into the hands of god my father hoping to obtain everlasting life through the death and merits of his blessed son jesus christ my saviour my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor herein named and for my worldly goods first I give and bequeath unto my brother Sam Finch my customary tenement wherein I now dwell called Francis with all the appurtenances after my decease to him the said Sam and his heirs and assigns forever item I give to my brother Sam a yard or orchard adjoining to my said copyhold tenement being parcel of Gilberts and to his heirs and assigns forever both the copyhold and my freehold parcel of Gilberts upon the condition herein expressed first that the said Sam my brother his heirs or executors shall pay unto my mother Ann Finch the sum of 4li of lawful english money within three months after my decease item I give to Mary the wife of Abrm Finch my late wife's sister the sum of 40s of lawful english money to be paid unto her by my said brother Sam within one year after my decease and in case she should die before the receipt thereof I give the said 40s to her husband Abrm Finch item I give the best bed and all thereon as it standeth in my parlour with the bedstead to my said sister Mary Finch item I give more unto her two board cloths four napkins and four pillowberes two pair of sheets item I give to her husband Abrm Finch one joined form and two joined stools item I give to Abrm Finch her son one little chest and one pewter dish item I give to her son Joseph one trunk and one pewter dish item I give to her son Jn one pewter dish and one porringer item I give to her son Edw one pewter dish and one porringer item I give to her son Sam one pewter dish and a pewter tankard item I give to her daughter Mary one livery cupboard one warming pan and one glass case item I give to her daughter Ann Finch the great chest in my parlour one broad box and one warming pan together with one silver spoon item I give to my sister Fincham one pair of sheets the joined table in the hall with two joined stools and a joined form item I give to my sister Eliz Savill one pair of sheets and a long broadcloth a brass mortar and two brass candlesticks item I give to Jn Savill her son my bed upon the chamber and all that belongeth thereunto as it now standeth and the great cupboard in my hall my biggest brass pot item I give to my sister Mary the wife of Abrm Finch a pair of cobirons in my hall chimney a pair of tongs fire shovel a trammel a spit and I do nominate and appoint my loving brother Sam Finch sole executor of this my last will and testament charging him faithfully to perform the same in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal this 3.6.1679 mark Jn Finch memorandum before the sealing and delivery the interlining was made and the razing out of Bott's wife's legacy she being dead sealed signed published and declared for the last will and testament of the said Jn Finch in our presence and at his request we signed it in his presence Ralph Josselin Humph Ruggels Dan Nightinggel
