in the name of god amen the 23.2.1693 etc. I Hen Morley of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex bricklayer being sick and weak of body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to god for the same and calling to remembrance the uncertain estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield to death when it shall please god to call do make constitute ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking and annulling by these presents all and every other testament and wills by me heretofore made either by word or writing and this to be taken for my last will and testament and no other and first being penitent for my sins past humbly desiring god forgiveness for the same I give my soul into the hands of almighty god my saviour and redeemer in whom and by the merits of jesus christ I trust and believe to be saved and possess and inherit the kingdom of heaven and my body to be buried in christian sepulchre at the discretion of my executor and executrix hereafter named and now for the se ttling of my temporal estate and such goods chattels and debts as it have ple ased god to bestow upon me I do order give dispose the sam e in manner and form following that is to say first I will that all those debts as I owe in right or conscience to any manner of person whatsoever shall be well and truly paid within convenient after my decease by my executor and executrix hereafter named item I give and bequeath unto Ann Morley my wife for and during the term of her natural life all that my messuage or tenement wherein I now dwell with the yards and backsides to the same belonging with all and singular the appurtenances and after her decease I give the said messuage and tenement with the appurtenances as aforesaid unto my only son Jn Morley of Baningham in the county of Suffolk butcher for and during the term of his natural life and after his decease I give the said tenement with all and every the appurtenances as aforesaid unto Jn Deeks the son of Jn Deeks of Halsted my grandchild and to his heirs forever which said tenement is standing lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid item I give and bequeath unto Jn Deeks of Halsted my son in law and to Grace his wife for and during the term of their natural lives and to the longest liver of them both the freehold messuage or tenement wherein they now dwell situate lying and being in Halsted aforesaid in the county of Essex called or known by the name of the Bull Calfe and lately divided into two tenements and after the decease of the said Jn Deeks and Grace his wife I give the said tenement with the appurtenances to be sold and the money that it shall be sold for to be equally divided amongst my three grandchildren that is to say Jn Deeks and Math Deeks the sons of the aforesaid Jn Deeks by Grace his wife and Grace the wife of Sam Johnson the daughter of the said Jn Deeks and Grace his wife to be divided equally share and share alike item I give and bequeath unto Hen Deeks my grandchild of Halsted one other of the sons of Jn Deeks aforesaid all that my other tenement lying and being in Halsted aforesaid and now in the occupation of him the said Hen being formerly part of the said tenement called the Bull Calfe with the ways passages and conveniences in and to the same as it hath been used and accustomed since it was divided with all and singular the yard gar den or backside to the same belonging unto the said Hen Deeks and to his heirs forever item I give and bequeath unto Thos Deeks of Halsted my grandchild all that my freehold house or tenement standing lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid on a certain green called Colne Green with the yards and backsides and all other the appurtenances to the same belonging as it is now in the occupation of Margt Sexton widow or her assigns unto the said Thos Deeks his heirs and assigns forever mark Hen Morley(inserted) item that whereas I now having due and owing unto me upon bonds and mortgages these particular sums hereafter mentioned that is to say from Solomon Grimstone of Chappell in the county of Essex gent the full and just sum of 15li with the interest for the same and also 18li with the interest due for the same from Wm Fossett of Earls Colne aforesaid bricklayer and also 4li from Josiah Frith of Earls Colne aforesaid saymaker which said sums as aforesaid I give and dispose as followeth item I give and bequeath unto Mary Pye of Halsted aforesaid my daughter the sum of 20li of lawful money of England to be paid as hereafter is mentioned out of the said sums above mentioned to be paid by my executors hereafter named that is to say 5li within one year next after my decease and 5li more within two years after my decease and 5li more three years after my decease and the other 5li being the residue of the said 20li within four years next after my decease and my will and mind is that Ann Morley my said wife shall have and enjoy the interest of the above mentioned sums which are over and above the 20li given to my daughter Mary Pye as aforesaid during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath the residue of the said sums above the said 20li as aforsaid being 17li I give to Grace the wife of Jn Deeks aforesaid my daughter to dispose as she shall think fit as also all the rest of my bonds and debts whatsoever and wheresoever herein by me not bequeathed I give to the said Grace Deeks my daughter aforesaid the rest of my household goods and implements of household I give and bequeath unto Ann Morley my wife aforesaid to dispose of them as she shall think most fit and requisite and I do hereby constitute and make Josiah Frith of Earls Colne aforesaid saymaker and Ann Morley my wife executor and executrix of this my last will and testament containing one sheet and a half of paper to which I have set my hand and seal the day and year first written signed sealed published and declared to be the last will
