in the name of god amen I Rich Bridge of Colne Wake in the county of Essex gent being weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding praised be god for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first I give and devise unto my daughter Grace Bridge and to her heirs forever all and singular my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever as well freehold copyhold with their and every of their appurtenances subject nevertheless and I do hereby make the same chargeable with the payment of one annuity or yearly rent charge of 15li of lawful money of Great Britain free of all taxes and deductions whatsoever to my wife Grace Bridge and her assigns during the term of her natural life to be paid at michaelmas day xmas day lady day and midsummer day by equal portions the first payment thereof to be made at such of the said days as shall first happen next after my decease and also subject to and I do hereby make the same premises chargeable with the payment of one other annuity or yearly rent charge of 10li of like lawful money free of all taxes and deductions whatsoever to my sister Mary Wenden the wife of Jn Wenden of Chapple in the county aforesaid butcher to be paid quarterly by equal portions in the same manner and form as the annuity given to my wife is to be paid and I do hereby declare my will and mind is to be that the receipt or acquittance of my said sister Mary Wenden shall from time to time be a sufficient discharge for the said annuity hereby given her notwithstanding her coverture and I do hereby also make the said premises subject to and chargeable with the payment of 1s6d a week to my aunt Phoebe Bridge of Bures Saint Mary in the county of Suffolk spinster during the term of her natural life and I do hereby declare my will and mind to be that if it shall happen that the said annuities of 15li a year and 10li a year or the said weekly sum of 1s6d or either or any of them or any part or parts thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of ten days next after any of the said days or times whereon the same ought to be paid as aforesaid that then it shall and may be lawful to and for my said wife Grace Bridge and my said sister Mary Wenden and my aunt Phoebe Bridge or such of them as shall be unpaid as aforesaid into and upon the said messuages lands tenements hereditaments and premises aforesaid or any part thereof to enter and distrain and the distress and distresses then and there found to take lead drive carry away and impound and the same impound to detain and keep until the said annuity or annuities or the said weekly sum of 1s6d be fully paid and satisfied or otherwise to sell and dispose of such distress or distresses as distresses for rent may be sold and disposed of by any act or acts of parliament whatsoever and I do hereby further declare my will and mind to be that my said wife Grace Bridge shall and may have the liberty of dwelling in all or such part or parts of the messuages or tenements in Wakes Colne aforesaid now in the occupation of Sam Burton and Mich Houghton or their assigns as my said wife shall think proper and convenient without paying anything for the same and whereas my late father Rich Bridge of Colne Wake aforesaid gent deceased by his last will and testament in writing dated 27.9.1712 did give and bequeath unto his daughter Mary Wenden during the term of her natural life all that his messuage or tenement with appurtenances situate and being in Chapple Street and after her decease to give the same unto Amy Wenden his (sic) daughter and her heirs forever which said will was never proved now I do hereby ratify and confirm the said devise and do hereby give and devise all my estate right title and interest of in and to the said messuage or tenement with appurtenances unto my said sister Mary Wenden and her assigns during her life and after her decease unto her said daughter Amy and to her heirs forever also I give and bequeath unto my very good friend Jas Deane of Colne Wake aforesaid gent the sum of 15li upon condition that he undertakes the executorship of this my will and all and singular other my goods and chattels and personal estate whatsoever after payment of my just debts the said legacy of 15li funeral charges and probate of this my last will I do hereby give and bequeath unto my said daughter Grace Bridge and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Grace Bridge and the said Jas Deane executrix and executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 19.2.1747 Rich Bridge signed sealed published and declared by the said testator Rich Bridge in our presence and in his presence attested by us Jas Cansdell Benj Ingate Jn Thos Baynes as a codicil to my above will I do hereby add and alter as follows that is to say whereas by my said will I have made my real estate chargeable with the payment of 1s6d a week to my aunt Phoebe Bridge during her life now I do hereby revoke the said devise and do hereby give and devise the said sum of 1s6d a week to my said wife Grace Bridge during her life over and above the annuity given to her by my said will with the same power to enter and distrain upon non payment as the said Phoebe Bridge might or could have done if I had not revoked the said devise in
