in the name of god amen I Hannah Newton of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be god therefore do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give devise and bequeath unto my grandson Francis Ruffle of Earls Colne aforesaid gentleman and his heirs and assigns for ever all that my freehold wood and woodground called Kingsland Wood otherwise Kingsland Grove lying and being in White Colne in the said county of Essex sometime in the occupation of my late husband Jn Newton deceased and now in my own occupation with the timber trees and all other trees wood and underwood thereon growing and all other the appurtenances to the same belonging and also all that my freehold messuage or tenement and the orchard and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and now or late in the occupation of Benj Constable or his assigns and all that parcel of freehold land to the said messuage belonging also situate and being in Earls Colne aforesaid sometime in the occupation of my said late husband and now in my own occupation and all other my freehold messuages lands tenements woods woodgrounds and hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their respective appurtenances situate lying and being in Earls Colne and White Colne aforesaid or either of them or elsewhere in the said county of Essex and also all that my customary or copyhold messuage or tenement with the appurtenances sometime in the tenure of Jn Sibley since of Jn Hawkins and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Wm Knowling or his assigns and all the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging called Stacies and Westlands or otherwise holden of the manor of Earls Cone sometime in the occupation of my said late husband afterwards of my daughter in law Sarah Newton her assignee or assigns and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Wm Partridge his assignee or assigns and all other my customary or copyhold lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever holden of the said manor of Earls Colne with their respective appurtenances to have and to hold all the said several freehold and copyhold messuages lands tenements woods woodgrounds and hereditaments with their and every of their respective appurtenances unto my said grandson Francis Ruffle his heirs and assigns for ever also I give and bequeath all and singular my household goods and household furniture linen wearing apparel brewing utensils beer vessels cattle and all other my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said grandson Francis Ruffle his executors administrators and assigns he and they paying all my just debts my funeral expenses the charges of the probate of this my will and all other expenses incident to the due execution of this my will and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said grandson Francis Ruffle sole executor of this my will and lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Hannah Newton the testatrix have to this my last will and testament contained in one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this 26.1.1768 Hannah Newton signed sealed published and declared by the said Hannah Newton the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us and by us attested as witnessed thereunto at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other Wm Townsend Jn Theobald (may be Jn Theobald) Jas Gardner
