in the name of god amen I Rich Folks of the parish of Earls Colne in the said county of Essex gardener being weak in body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding thanks be to almighty god for the same therefore do make or ordain this my last will and testament in manner or form following revoking all other former wills by me heretofore made and as to my worldly wealth wherewith it have pleased god to bless me with I dispose thereof as followeth viz. Item I give and bequeath unto my nephews Jn Ward Joseph Ward and Jesse Ward children of my sister Eliz Ward late wife of Jn Ward late of Polson in the said county of Essex deceased each and every one the sum of 1s apiece of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid them within one year next after my decease also I give and bequeath to my nephews (sic) Wm Childs and Deborah Childs children of my sister Deborah Childs late wife of Wm Childs late of Thorrington in the county of Essex deceased the sum of 20li apiece of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid them within one year next after my decease also I give and bequeath to Ann Hull of Earls Colne widow the sum of 5li of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid her within one year next after my decease but if she should die before it is due I give it to Jn Folkes as after named also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Jn Folks of Marks Tey in the aforesaid county the sum of 100li of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid him within one year next after my decease or be put out securely by my executors hereinafter named also I give to Jn Folks as aforesaid all my wearing apparel also I give and bequeath unto Eliz Layer Mary Moss and Deborah Webb widow of Jn Webb children of my brother Jn Folks late of Marks Tey in the aforesaid county the sum of 30li apiece of lawful money to be paid to them within one year after my decease but if Eliz Layer and Mary Moss or Deborah Webb should die before their legacy become payable I give it to the survivors of them also I give and bequeath unto Hezekiah Folks as aforesaid (sic) the sum of 50li of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to him within one year next after my decease but if in case Hezekiah Folks should die before his legacy should be payable I give it to the survivors of him but now my will is after my book debts and funeral charges and executors for their trouble and my abovesaid legacies are full paid all the rest that is spare if any there be I give it to Jn Folks and Hezekiah Folks share and share alike lastly I do nominate and appoint Jn Bryant of White (sic) in the abovesaid county farmer and Wm Botts of Earls Colne grocer to be my executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have to the 8.5.1780 set my hand and seal Rich Folks signed sealed published and declared by the above Rich Folks the testator in the presence of us as witnesses hereto Sam Gatward Jn Betts Hen White
