in the name of god amen I Wm Mann senior of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex gardener being of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to god for the same though weak in body do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) I give devise and bequeath unto my son Wm all that my copyhold messuage or tenement where he now does dwell together with the yards gardens and appurtenances thereto belonging situate and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and which I hold of the manor of Earls Colne by copy of court roll to him his heirs and assigns forever also I give devise and bequeath unto my son Jn his heirs or assigns all those my copyhold cottages where he and I now do dwell together with the field yards gardens and appurtenances thereto belonging situate and being in Earls Colne and which I hold of the manor of Earls Colne and Colne Priory by copies of court roll to him his heirs and assigns for ever upon condition nevertheless that he my said son Jn shall pay or cause to be paid to my son Wm such sum as shall hereafter be set by my friends Robt Jas Pudney of Earls Colne farmer and Thos Quilter of Feering in the county of Essex farmer so as to make my son Wm's share equally in value to that of my son Jn's share it being my wish and desire that they may both have alike in value as near as can possibly be and I shall be obliged to my said friends if they will after my decease set the amount for to be paid by my son Jn to his brother Wm as near as they think to make them both equal alike and the amount so set by them I give and bequeath to my son Wm his heirs and assigns for ever I also give and bequeath to my two sons Wm and Jn all my brewing utensils my working tools all my sacks and two half hogshead casks and all my wearing apparel share and share alike to them their heirs and assigns for ever and my will further is that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be discharged out of the above bequests by my two sons Wm and Jn share and share alike all the rest residue of my furniture and other effects of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be which I may be possessed of at the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same unto my granddaughter Eliza the daughter of my son Jn and now living with me to and for her own use absolutely and for ever and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Jn Mann of Earls Colne aforesaid sole executor to this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all former will or wills by me at any time heretofore made do declare this to be my last will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18.11.1831 mark Wm Mann signed sealed published and declared by the said testator in our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses Isaac Joslin Watson Susanna Selina Watson Jas Cope all of Earls Colne
