this is the last will and testament of me Hannah Cowlin of Earls Colne in the county of Essex (widow) being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding first I give and bequeath unto my son Wm Cowlin £5 also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliz Mays wife of Thos Mays £10 also I give and bequeath unto the children of my daughter Hannah Wilsher namely Mary and Hannah Wilsher the sum of £1 and 10s each and Sarah and Benjamin Wilsher the sum of £1 each also I give and bequeath unto my son Arth Cowlin £10 also I give and bequeath unto my son Jas Cowlin the sum of £10 also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Algate the sum of £10 also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Cath Hubbard the sum of £10 I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid daughter Eliz Mays my feather bed bolster and pillows I give and bequeath unto my grandson Jas Cowlin son of my son Jas Cowlin my flock bed I give and bequeath unto the children of my son Wm Cowlin namely Mary and Jas Cowlin the sum of £1 and 10s each also Wm and Charlotte Cowlin the sum of £1 each I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid daughters namely Susanna Algate Eliz Mays and Cath Hubbard all my wearing apparel to be divided between and amongst them share and share alike all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects be the same of what nature kind or quality soever and wheresoever after payment of my just debts funeral expenses the aforesaid legacies and the charge of proving this my will I give and bequeath unto my before named sons and daughter namely Arth Cowlin Jas Cowlin and Susanna Algate to be divided between and amongst them share and share alike and it is my mind and will that my aforesaid daughter Susanna Algate shall receive her before named legacy and as well shall receive her share of the residue to and for her own proper use absolutely to be paid into her own proper hands whose receipt alone shall be a sufficient discharge for this same and I direct that the same shall not be subject to the debts control intermeddling or engagement of her present or any future husband and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my aforesaid son Arth Cowlin of Copford in the county of Essex (farmer) sole executor of this my will and do declare that he shall not be answerable or accountable for such monies only as shall come to his hands by virtue thereof and hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made do declare this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Hannah Cowlin the testatrix to this my last will and testament have set my hand and seal this 14.1.1832 mark Hannah Cowlin signed sealed published and declared by the said Hannah Cowlin the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other and at her request have set our names as witnesses thereto W.
