Edw Ballard of Earls Colne for keeping a disordered alehouse divers times and amongst the rest on 12.9. being sunday at which time in the forenoon were found in his back side in the time of divine service or sermon Wm Prentice Wm Prior and Hen Prior Luke Penall Jn Hudson and Thos Freeman all of Colne Engaine husbandmen who on the coming of the officers ran all out into the fields and being there bade that five of the best men in Earls Colne should if they durst come and meet with five of them in that place all which we present for the misdemeanour aforesaid
