Kosazu's house and his father's grave |
text: |
From the dormitory, Kosazu took me to his house. This contains the usual frontal planks all of them with carvings and skulls of cattle. The carvings which are chiefly of mithans' horns but in one panel two human heads are also shown. These are a relic of pre-British days and (9) commemorate the two heads his grandfather took in combat. Just outside the house was the grave of Kosazu's father who had died a month ago. A great plumed shield stood above it and the dead man's umbrella, cloth and drinking gourd were tied to a bamboo stake in the ground. |
