As in Khonoma, there are various field rest-houses. One of these built by the Nisonuma clan in February 1946 juts out of the hillside a little less than half a mile below the village. It is very neatly made but is devoid of carvings or paintings. A few yards below, the village youth had set up two strange figures. Each was made of two poles at right angles and on the top a roundish torso was plaited out of grass and reeds. I was told that they represented 'Thepa' and 'Thevo' the original founders of the village and were made by the boys and girls at the path clearing festival. |
