Between the christian Khels and the rest of the village is a long cemetery. The former custom of exposing the dead is no longer followed and all are now buried - the men in one row and the women in another. A particularly magnificent grave marks the body of Kikanuksini. |

In front of the catafalque is a warrior's shield, a spear with wooden blade, and a warrior's feather crown. The whole is fenced with bamboo sections cut slantingwise. |

A little to the east of the grave and within the same enclosure is the grave of Kikanuksini's little son. The child died when only one year old and a bamboo stake bearing an orange, a maize cob and some little parcels stands at the foot. |

A remarkable feature of both graves is their square thread symbols. The grave of the child has three and that of Kikanuksini two. The sides of each square are in thread but the centres are hollow. Each side is 4 inches long. |
