feasts of merit and house carving at Khensa |
text: |
A number of houses in the village are decorated with horizontal painted boards while in a few cases the boards are carved. Any one in the Mongsen Khel who kills 9 pigs at the first feast of merit can put up a painted board while if he is a member of the Chongli Khel, he must kill 30. The board is a foot wide and runs across the house front just above the door. It is painted in black with five circles, each with inner rings, and with long zigzag lines on either side SKETCH |
