D.C's no. 2975G to Governor's Adviser reported that Sangnyu who had been causing trouble throughout the war had taken 8 Zangkam heads. While they were returning from the plains. This route to plains during war had been kept open by Govt. orders, as long as Americans were at Nyassia. Their withdrawal led to this outrage. Orders to forbid Sangnyu interfering with Zangkam's going and coming to plains requested. Governor's Adviser regarded this as one sided and proposed a visit to combat their anti Govt. attitude. A later report showed the Indian Officer at Nyassia had patched up this quarrel already and the head taking 6 women and 2 male children was most treacherous. Chingai suggested burning a village. Governor's Adviser replied on 17th September 1945 by asking to what Ang did Zangkam owe allegiance. Enquiry showed that the Ang of Zangkam himself was a big Ang; related to Joboka. (No orders seem to have been passed on this quarrel.) |
