Quarrel between Chui and Longmien. |
text: |
Longmien is the son of Chui. In March '45 Longmien killed two men of Sengha who were coming back from plains and beheaded them. Longmien were not strong enough to make war and so took beads, guns etc. to Ang of Sengha to make peace. The Ang would not accept and it was then suggested that Longmien should give Ahan's elephant tusk to Sengha to make peace. This was done against Chingai's advice. Once he had accepted the tusk Chui and others tried to get it back from Longmien, but Longmien naturally would not part. S.D.O. ordered tusk to be deposited in Wakching pending enquiry. |

The matter was left to the Ang of Chui and the Ang of Sengha to settle. |
