On 21/3/46 S.A.S. Wakching reported to S.D.O. that Totok Chingha complained that Langmien had taken previously six heads and were now looting and burning crops and field houses etc. S.D.O. warned them that war was prohibited vide D.C's no. 413G dt. 26/12/40 and further reported to D.C. On 20/8/46 that Langmien admitted doing this and defended themselves by saying it was the custom because the death ceremonies of the wife of the Ang of Totok Chingha were being held. Langmien refused 2 Buffs. settlement proposed by D.B's and want to go to war (see papers in 41 and 42) which is forbidden entirely. Say they will go to war whatever happens. Pending with Governor's Adviser as to who should do the actual tour - Tirap or Naga Hills. |
