text: Choknyu. 27/1/48 destroyed.
text: 29. visited by Totok - and Nyangpong db. (Tamlu db) - more than 200 corpses actually seen - the village burnt out - 2 bullets and 2 cartridge cases recovered - one spear sticking in a corpse - not a Konyak spear. 20 survivors are in Totok - there may be other survivors in the jungle - there were 3 morungs - about 200 houses - death roll is estimated at not less than 400 - the raiders had hair cut in Chang fashion - came from the Chen direction - armed with rifles - believed to be Tsawlaw Himpu - had no previous warning - last hot weather there was a rumour that Chen would bring in Tsawlaw to finish Choknyu - Choknyu and Chen are old enemies - (Konyak custom is to take the head, 2 hands and 2 feet of the enemy - for long distance raiders whole head too heavy - therefore take only the front half - most corpses had only their faces taken - the rest of the head still there). Law Nakun had come to attack Choknyu, got wounded and had since died - was being carried back by Law Nakun - have sent word that they will return and exterminate all survivors - have sent this through Chen - came with rifles (Chen + Tsawlaw + Law Nakun).
